\u201cDaily Show\u201d host Jon Stewart<\/a> tore into President Donald Trump<\/a> \u2013 and his MAGA enablers in the media and in Congress \u2013 for pulling the United States into a war with Iran<\/a> without making a compelling case for it to the public. <\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe I\u2019m old-fashioned, but even regimes I disagreed with respected the American people enough, or felt some obligation, to at least lie to us in primetime,\u201d Stewart said as he played footage of President George W. Bush<\/a> delivering a televised address on Iraq.<\/p>\n

While Trump has made some brief phone calls to members of the media, he\u2019s largely ducked answering questions from the assembled press on camera. And after he returned to the White House from Mar-a-Lago on Sunday evening, reporters shouted questions at him about Iran. Yet Trump ignored them and stopped to admire<\/a> some new statues in the White House Rose Garden \u2015 a move Stewart likened to a \u201cdoddering Mr. Magoo.\u201d <\/p>\n

On Monday, Trump briefly mentioned Iran during a ceremony to award the Medal of Honor to three U.S. servicemembers, and said critics believe he will \u201cget bored\u201d with the situation. <\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t get bored,\u201d Trump insisted. <\/p>\n

Stewart mockingly agreed. <\/p>\n

\u201cYou sure don\u2019t get bored,\u201d he said. \u201cYou\u2019re not some 3-year-old that gets easily distracted by something shiny on the wall.\u201d <\/p>\n

With that, he rolled footage of the same event, in which Trump spotted the gold drapes hanging over the windows and went into a nearly two-minute digression<\/a> about the curtains, how he selected them and the ballroom currently under construction outside the White House. <\/p>\n

When the camera returned to Stewart, he sat in silence for a full 14 seconds.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t believe it,\u201d Stewart said. \u201cOur bombs are now smarter than our president.\u201d <\/p>\n
