Four-time slam winner and former World No. 1 Jannik Sinner<\/a> is having a tough time on the court lately. The last time he won a tennis<\/a> tournament was more than three months ago. In the title clash of ATP Finals against archrival and current No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz<\/a>, the Italian snatched his second straight trophy in Turin after emerging as the winner for the first time in 2024’s edition.<\/p>\n

However, his winning streak has come to a standstill. In Melbourne, he failed to continue his dominance when 24-time slam king Novak Djokovic<\/a> ousted him in a tense semifinal clash. With that, Sinner missed out on completing an Australian Open hat trick after winning the titles in 2024 and 2025.<\/p>\n

But the insult to injury came in his next event. Last month at the Qatar Open, Sinner faced a shocking exit, losing against world No. 13 Jakub Mensik. In the quarterfinal round, the Czech player managed to emerge victorious 7-6 (3), 2-6, 6-3.<\/p>\n

With early exits in two straight events, Sinner has suddenly found himself trailing in the race to Turin, especially when it comes to updated live ATP Rankings<\/a> on Monday.<\/p>\n

The reigning champion of the ATP Finals is in the sixth spot among the top eight players in the cutoff for Turin. Alcaraz, who has been in sublime form lately with titles at the Australian Open and then the Qatar Open, is leading the pack with 2,500 points. in second position is Serbian star and legend Djokovic with 1,300 points.<\/p>\n

Third spot in the live race has been occupied by Daniil Medvedev who recently won the Dubai Tennis<\/a> Championships. He has 1,000 points. Alex de Minaur and Ben Shelton stand in fourth and fifth places, respectively, with 985 and 950 points. Then comes Sinner in sixth position, having 900 points.<\/p>\n

The remaining two spots in the top-eight list belong to Alexander Zverev and Felix-Auger Aliassime, with 890 and 815 points, respectively.<\/p>\n

Sinner will look to get back to winning ways at the Indian Wells, starting this week. If he is to climb in the live race to Turin, at least behind Alcaraz, then delivering a deep run at the ATP 1000 Masters<\/a> event will be crucial.<\/p>\n

If Sinner reaches the final, he will receive 650 points to add to his current tally of 900 points, thus putting him ahead of Djokovic. Should he win the tournament, he will receive 1,000 points while taking his tally to 1,900 points in the live race. In that case, he will only stay behind his Spanish archrival.<\/p>\n

However, clinching the trophy at the Indian Wells won’t be so easy for Sinner considering his past record. He hasn’t gone past the semifinal stage so far in this event. But this time, he will look to rewrite history.<\/p>\n
