Campbell said he wasn\u2019t going to go into detail about his cancer, but shared that his future public appearances would now have to take a backseat.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy plan is to get as well as I possibly can over the summer so that I can tour with my new movie \u2018Ernie & Emma\u2019 this fall,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n
\u201cTreatment needs and professional obligations don\u2019t always go hand-in-hand.\u201d<\/p>\n

Campbell added that he wasn\u2019t trying to enlist sympathy or advice by revealing his diagnosis, but wanted to get ahead of any false information that might come out.<\/p>\n
\u201cFear not, I am a tough old son-of-a-bitch and I have great support, so I expect to be around a while,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n
He concluded, \u201cAs always, you\u2019re the greatest fans in the world and I hope to see you soon!\u201d<\/p>\n

He wrote, starred and directed in the upcoming \u201cErnie & Emma,\u201d which is about a widowed pear salesman who travels to scatter his wife\u2019s ashes in places she specified.<\/p>\n
