\n\tEXCLUSIVE: The Apple TV<\/a> series Palm Royale<\/a> has taken its final bow. The Emmy-nominated dramedy was canceled at the streamer after two seasons. <\/p>\n

\n\tPalm Royale was created by Abe Sylvia and starred an ensemble cast led by Kristen Wiig, which included Laura Dern, Allison Janney, Ricky Martin, Josh Lucas, Leslie Bibb, Amber Chardae Robinson, Mindy Cohn, Julia Duffy, and the legendary Carol Burnett.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe show\u2019s first season received 11 Emmy Award nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy for Wiig, and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Burnett. Of the 11 noms, the series took home an Emmy statuette for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music. For Season 2, Wiig has been nominated for the Annual Actor Awards, as well as a GLAAD Media Award nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tLoosely based on Juliet McDaniel\u2019s novel\u00a0Mr. and Mrs. American Pie\u00a0and produced by Apple Studios,\u00a0Palm Royale\u00a0is a true underdog story that follows Maxine Simmons (Wiig) in 1969 as she endeavors to break into Palm Beach high society. <\/p>\n

\n\tArmed with fabulous ensembles and accessories, as well as her quick wit, Maxine attempts to cross that impermeable line between the haves and the have-nots. The dramedy asks the same question: How much of yourself are you willing to sacrifice to get what someone else has?<\/p>\n

\n\tIn Season 2, Maxine is left a social pariah after a scandalous public breakdown. She\u2019ll have to draw on her deep well of cleverness and cunning to prove, once and for all, that not only does she belong, but she might have what it takes to rule this town. Along the way, she will uncover untold truths and finally understand what this town is truly built on: secrets, lies, and the occasional felony.<\/p>\n

\n\tRegarding the storyline, Palm Royale could\u2019ve continued but the ending gave the show a conclusion. And there was a special tribute to Burnett\u2019s character, Norma Dellacorte, in her planned final episode. As Norma, Burnette sang a warm rendition of \u201cSomething Good\u201d in the Season 2 finale.<\/p>\n

\n\tAdditional notable Season 2 cast includes Claudia Ferri, Jason Canela, Jordan Bridges, James Urbaniak, Roberto Sanchez, Rick Cosnett, and Ryan Dorsey. The show\u2019s sophomore season welcomed John Stamos, Patti LuPone, Vicki Lawrence, and Matt Rogers.<\/p>\n

\n\tHailing from Apple Studios, Palm Royale was written, executive produced and showrun by Sylvia for Aunt Sylvia\u2019s Moving Picture Company. The series was executive produced by Dern, Jayme Lemons for Jaywalker Pictures, Wiig and Katie O\u2019Connell Marsh.
