In a rare feat, the Elon University baseball and softball teams had no-hitters in the same day on Feb. 28, an accomplishment highlighted by the Associated Press, <\/a>The Washington Post<\/a> and MLB.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI was primarily a pitcher in college myself, so I can appreciate the effort,\u201d Director of Athletics Jennifer Strawley told the Associated Press. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t happen every day that you see a perfect game or a no-hitter and to have both on the same day. You also recognize it\u2019s a total team effort and to get to that place, there are plays made behind them that led to the pitchers being able to enjoy that moment.\u201d<\/p>\n Elon\u2019s Anna Dew completed a\u00a0six-inning perfect game<\/a>\u00a0against Charleston Southern, followed by the Phoenix baseball team pitchers Aidan Stieglitz, Mike Staiano and RJ Latkowski pitching their own no-hitter against Fairfield<\/a>.
