NEW YORK (AP) \u2014 Former Vice President Kamala Harris<\/a> will have a memoir out in September on her historic presidential run<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The book is called \u201c107 Days,\u201d the length of her abbreviated campaign, and will be published by Simon & Schuster on Sept. 23.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust over a year ago, I launched my campaign for President of the United States,\u201d Harris said in a video announcement on Thursday. \u201c107 days traveling the country, fighting for our future \u2014 the shortest presidential campaign in modern history. Since leaving office, I\u2019ve spent a lot of time reflecting on those days and with candor and reflection, I\u2019ve written a behind-the-scenes account of that journey. I believe there\u2019s value in sharing what I saw, what I learned, and what it will take to move forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Simon & Schuster CEO Jonathan Karp declined to offer any specifics on what Harris will write about, including her thoughts on questions about President Joe Biden\u2019s fitness for office<\/a> but said Harris \u201caddresses everything we would want her to address.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harris ended up heading the Democratic ticket after Biden dropped out last July in the wake of a disastrous debate performance<\/a>, and she was defeated last November by Republican Donald Trump. She would have been the first woman and first woman of color to become president.<\/p>\n

She announced on Wednesday that she will not run for California governor<\/a> in 2026.<\/p>\n

Simon & Schuster, based in New York, is calling the Harris book a \u201cpage-turning account,\u201d with \u201dsurprising and revealing insights.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cKamala Harris is a singular American leader,\u201d Karp said in a statement. \u201c\u2018107 DAYS\u2019 captures the drama of running for president better than just about anything I\u2019ve read. It\u2019s one of the best works of political nonfiction Simon & Schuster has ever published. It\u2019s an eyewitness contribution to history and an extraordinary story.\u201d<\/p>\n

Financial terms for \u201c107 Days\u201d were not disclosed. In 2019, Penguin Books published Harris\u2019 \u201cThe Truths We Hold: An American Journey.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n
