NASCAR is \u201csearching for a lead creative agency\u201d to \u201chelp steer the stock car racing circuit back to its heartland roots and reconnect with the blue-collar fans,\u201d according to Ewan Larkin of AD AGE. NASCAR Chief Brand Officer Tim Clark said that the governing body \u201crecently launched an agency review,\u201d which it is \u201cmanaging internally and hopes to complete by early September.\u201d He noted that there are 11 agencies \u201ccurrently in the hunt for the business.\u201d The new agency\u2019s first work is \u201clikely to debut\u201d around the Daytona 500 in February of next year. Clark said that some past efforts to reach younger and newer fans \u201cmay have caused \u2018us to lose our way with our core fans.\u2019\u201d He added with the help of a new agency, NASCAR now aims to \u201cplant a flag and really signify who we are as a brand.\u201d Rather than \u201ctrying to be all things to all people,\u201d the brand \u201cplans to more fully embrace its core audience while still finding authentic ways to engage younger fans.\u201d Larkin writes NASCAR\u2019s \u201crenewed focus on its American roots comes amid a broader surge in nationalist sentiment during Donald Trump\u2019s presidency.\u201d Clark said NASCAR\u2019s positioning is not tied \u201cspecifically to any change in administration.\u201d He added that the \u201cfocus on Americana is authentic to the brand.\u201d NASCAR is \u201cstill determining how its brand positioning will come to life\u201d (AD AGE, 7\/31<\/a>).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"NASCAR is planning to more fully embrace its core audience while finding ways to engage younger fans.
