Jurgen Klopp continues to be linked with leaving Red Bull – despite Oliver Mintzlaff branding the suggestion a ‘complete nonsense’ last month. Klopp left Liverpool in the summer of 2024, after almost nine years in charge, to take a break from management, with him being reduced to tears during his final game in charge of the club against Wolves.<\/p>\n
The German won the Champions League<\/a> and Premier League<\/a> at Liverpool, and his close bond with the club prompted him to state he would never coach another English side. And even though Klopp has been Red Bull\u2019s global head of soccer since January 2025, that hasn\u2019t stopped him being consistently linked with a return to coaching.<\/p>\n Real Madrid had been mentioned as a possible destination in recent weeks following Xabi Alonso\u2019s departure in January.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Wolves boss Rob Edwards makes ‘angry’ Liverpool point before FA Cup rematch<\/a>READ MORE: Arne Slot makes telling admission on latest Liverpool failure as top four hopes rocked<\/a><\/p>\n And a report published by Salzburger Nachrichten<\/a> last month claimed that Klopp\u2019s position was no longer secure at Red Bull, and the company would not stand in his way if he wished to return to management.<\/p>\n Responding to those claims, Mintzlaf told The Athletic:<\/a> \u201cThat\u2019s complete nonsense and totally unfounded. On the contrary: We are extremely satisfied with Jurgen Klopp<\/a>\u2019s work.<\/p>\n \u201cHe invests a great deal, is in constant communication with our coaches and sporting directors, and is sustainably developing our Red Bull football philosophy.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are convinced that he is the right man for the job. That\u2019s where we are focusing all our energy and attention.\u201d<\/p>\n Jurgen Klopp is working with Oliver Mintzlaff(Image: (KERSTIN JOENSSON\/AFP via Getty Images))<\/p>\n But despite Mintzlaf\u2019s stance, French publication L’Equipe<\/a> is now reporting that the sporting situation of the two main clubs in the Red Bull group is being viewed as hardly satisfactory, and part of the responsibility lies with Klopp.<\/p>\n RB Leipzig are fifth in the Bundesliga, while RB Salzburg were dumped out of the Europa League<\/a> in the group stages.<\/p>\n The report goes on to claim that the more time passes, the more the German would like to return to coaching, with Oliver Glasner being mentioned as a possible successor at the end of the season.<\/p>\n And even though both Chelsea and Manchester United denied the claim, Marc Kosicke, Klopp\u2019s agent, claimed last month that he subsequently fielded interest from the two Premier League clubs as both looked to hire the German.<\/p>\n![\"Jurgen](\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/0_GettyImages-2193323343.jpg\")
