LOS ANGELES \u2014 The Studio City<\/a> house used for exterior shots of \u201cThe Brady Bunch\u201d was designated as a historic-cultural monument<\/a> Wednesday by the Los Angeles City Council.<\/p>\n

The recommendation, approved by a 13-0 vote by the Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Commission, grants landmark protections to the 1970s-era home on Dilling Avenue in the San Fernando Valley community.<\/p>\n

The house was used for scene-setting exterior shots for the 1969-1974 sitcom, which gained a second life in syndication. Most of the \u201cBrady Bunch\u201d interior shots were on a sound stage.<\/p>\n

The home also appeared in the 1995 big-screen film \u201cThe Brady Bunch Movie\u201d and its sequel.<\/p>\n

HGTV renovated the interior to match that seen in the show after purchasing the home in 2019 for \u201cA Very Brady Renovation.\u201d It sold the circa-1959 property to historic house enthusiast Tina Trahan, wife of former HBO chief exec Chris Albrecht, for $3.2 million.<\/p>\n

HGTV listed the home<\/a> for $5.5 million<\/a> after buying it for $3.5 million.<\/p>\n

In an email message to NBC Los Angeles at the time, agent Marcy Roth said her client plans to use the house for charity and fundraising.<\/p>\n

\u201cNobody is going to live in it,\u201d Trahan told The Wall Street Journal<\/a>. \u201cAnything you might do to make the house livable would take away from what I consider artwork.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before HGTV bought the home, the residence had remained in the same family for nearly 50 years.<\/p>\n
