"Caitlin

Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese joining USA Basketball boosts Team USA’s scoring depth and is likely to push bookmakers to shorten the USA moneyline and lower spreads. Punters should monitor Clark’s minutes and scoring props closely because of recent injury history — favor adjusted player props or smaller-stakes over/under bets until final rotations are confirmed ahead of March’s qualifiers.

Clark and Reese Reunite for USA Basketball Ahead of FIBA Qualifiers

The WNBA stars Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese have been named to the 12-player USA squad for the FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament in San Juan, Puerto Rico, running March 11-17. The selection reunites the former college rivals on the same roster under head coach Kara Lawson and marks their senior USA Basketball competitive debuts.

Roster Moves and Late AdditionsKey inclusions and withdrawals

Monique Billings and Rae Burrell were added to replace players who withdrew, with both stepping into the final 12-woman roster. The squad also includes Paige Bueckers, Kahleah Copper, Chelsea Gray, Dearica Hamby, Rhyne Howard, Kiki Iriafen, Kelsey Plum, and Jackie Young. The team mixes established WNBA talent with recent call-ups to sharpen depth ahead of the World Cup.

Why the Qualifying Tournament Matters

The USA already secured World Cup qualification by winning the 2025 AmeriCup, so this March tournament serves as a high-level tune-up and a chance for Lawson to establish rotations, experiment with lineups, and build chemistry ahead of the World Cup in Berlin in September.

Schedule and OpponentsGroup phase dates and matchups

The USA opens against Senegal on March 11, faces Puerto Rico on March 12, plays Italy on March 14, meets New Zealand on March 15 and closes the qualifying slate against Spain on March 17. These matchups offer a range of competitive tests from physical, athletic teams to experienced European opponents.

Impact on Players and the WNBA

Caitlin Clark, who battled injuries during the 2025 WNBA season, will use the tournament to regain rhythm and potentially carry momentum into 2026. Paige Bueckers, the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year, and other young standouts will gain international experience that can translate into higher profiles and stronger seasons at the pro level.

Betting Implications and Market SignalsHow bettors should approach the qualifiers

Expect the USA to open as heavy favorites in the group; bookmakers will likely shorten the moneyline and tighten spreads with Clark and Reese available.

However, Clark’s recent injury history suggests caution on player props — consider reduced-unit bets on minutes and scoring lines or target matchups against weaker teams (Puerto Rico, Senegal) for favorable player-point props.

Live markets and rotation announcements in the days before tip-off will be key for sharper lines.
