BEAVERTON Ore. (KPTV) – The mayor of Beaverton declared Thursday \u201cHoppers Day\u201d in honor of the new Disney Pixar film that takes place in a fictional version of the city. Actors Bobby Moynihan and Piper Curda, stars of \u201cHoppers,\u201d visited Beaverton as part of the film\u2019s world tour.<\/p>\n
Students get early screening<\/p>\n
Students from multiple Beaverton schools were dismissed from class on Thursday for an early screening of the film. Moynihan and Curda attended the event, giving students a chance to meet the stars of the movie.<\/p>\n
The actors said they were not previously aware that Beaverton, Ore., was real.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have to be honest and say I don\u2019t think I knew it was a real place, but I wasn\u2019t surprised it was,\u201d Curda said. Moynihan agreed, adding, \u201cI did not know it was a real place.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2018Most exciting\u2019 crowd on the world tour<\/p>\n
Moynihan and Curda said the Beaverton audience stood out among the stops on their world promotional tour.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo shade to any other audience we have had \u2014 they have all been amazing from New York to London \u2014 but there is something about an auditorium full of kids who got to take the day off from school,\u201d Curda said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd their town is in the movie,\u201d Moynihan added. \u201cI don\u2019t think we can be in a room with more excitement.\u201d<\/p>\n
About the film<\/p>\n
\u201cHoppers\u201d follows a young girl named Mabel who steals state-of-the-art technology that allows her to speak to animals and become one. Curda described the story as an adventure to \u201csave the glade.\u201d<\/p>\n
The film premieres in theaters everywhere Friday.<\/p>\n
