One of them, a Fiat X1\/9, had a hole in the floorboard. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n \u201cIt was crazy. But that was my decision. I was determined to save money,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n The goal was simple: Keep fixed costs low so he could focus on building wealth<\/a>, not maintaining appearances.<\/p>\n He Lived with Roommates To Cut Housing Costs<\/p>\n At age 24, Cuban lived in a three-bedroom Dallas apartment with five other roommates, according to GOBankingRates<\/a>. <\/p>\n \u201cI didn\u2019t have my own bedroom,\u201d he said. \u201cI slept on the couch or floor depending on what time I got home.\u201d <\/p>\n Housing is typically the largest expense in any budget, and Cuban\u2019s willingness to sacrifice comfort for savings gave him capital to invest elsewhere.<\/p>\n He Treated Paying Off Debt as an Investment<\/p>\n \u201cThe best place to invest is to pay off all your credit cards<\/a> and burn them.
