Sam Carrick is headed to Buffalo.<\/p>\n

After the Rangers held Carrick out of the lineup for Thursday\u2019s 6-2 win over the Maple Leafs<\/a>, Sportsnet first reported the veteran center was to be traded to the Sabres before the 3 p.m. Eastern deadline on Friday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Rangers will acquire Buffalo\u2019s third-rounder and the Blackhawks\u2019 sixth-rounder in 2026 as part of the trade, The Post confirmed<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Carrick signed with the Rangers as a free agent from the Oilers in July 2024, inking a three-year, $3 million deal with the Blueshirts. <\/p>\n

Since then, the hard-nosed forward has been one of the most reliable contributors over a tumultuous couple of seasons for the organization.<\/p>\n

If not for this trade, Carrick was a frontrunner to win the Steven McDonald Extra Effort Award<\/a>, which is given annually to the Ranger who, as chosen by the fans, \u201cgoes above and beyond the call of duty.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 140 games with the Rangers, Carrick posted 10 goals and 20 assists with 111 penalty minutes. <\/p>\n
