MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred is \u201cproud that no regular-season games have been lost to a labor dispute during his tenure.\u201d But if Manfred and the owners are as \u201cinsistent on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2026\/03\/05\/mlbpas-meyer-warns-salary-cap-could-hurt-mlb-fans-experience\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2026\/03\/05\/mlbpas-meyer-warns-salary-cap-could-hurt-mlb-fans-experience\/\">salary cap<\/a> as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2026\/01\/16\/dodgers-signing-tucker-becomes-centerpiece-in-growing-mlb-salary-cap-debate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2026\/01\/16\/dodgers-signing-tucker-becomes-centerpiece-in-growing-mlb-salary-cap-debate\/\">they appear<\/a>,\u201d it is \u201cdifficult to see how that streak will remain\u202fintact.\u201d Meyer said, \u201cPlayers are aware from the rhetoric coming from the other side, and I guess all I\u2019ll say is we\u2019re more than well prepared for it.\u201d Meyer is \u201cwell-versed in his association\u2019s longtime objection to a salary cap,\u201d even as the other leagues have adopted them.
