Bill Maher issued a scathing response to Donald Trump\u2019s Valentine\u2019s Day criticism of him<\/a>, blasting the president as having \u201cBill Maher Derangement Syndrome.\u201d<\/p>\n

The comedian sounded off on the president during Friday\u2019s episode of \u201cReal Time,\u201d where he responded at length to Trump\u2019s many digs posted on Truth Social last month.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomeone has to help Donald Trump understand that I don\u2019t suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome. He suffers from Bill Maher Derangement Syndrome,\u201d Maher said. \u201cThree weeks ago, I woke up to some things the president had written on his Truth Social media platform that somehow were not true. I don\u2019t know how they got in there. It\u2019s not like the president to just make things up when he\u2019s mad.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cBut on this occasion, he did, which I forgive. But on Valentine\u2019s Day, that hurt. But just to set the record straight from what the president claimed, I didn\u2019t ask for the dinner. Our mutual friend asked me. It\u2019s on tape from my podcast. Also, I wasn\u2019t nervous and scared, and the dinner wasn\u2019t quick.\u201d<\/p>\n

As Maher went on, he defended that his meal with Trump lasted \u201cthree hours,\u201d and clarified what (and how much) he drank during their evening together.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was having a good time. So were you, Don, because we were talking like real humans, not like that crazy act you put on in public,\u201d he added. \u201cBut I know that\u2019s what you do. You are, if anything, a man who wears his heart on his sleeve. And so you did here listing your accomplishments and how hurt you feel that people, including me, have not recognized them enough.\u201d <\/p>\n

Per Maher, Trump texted him after the dinner, blasting him as \u201cpart of the lunatic left,\u201d but \u2014 after arguing \u201cfor a while\u201d \u2014 told him to never change.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s the normal human being I saw the night we broke bread,\u201d Maher said. \u201cAnd as long as I think there\u2019s even a spark of a possibility of bringing that guy out more. I will not consider the dinner \u2018a waste of time,\u2019 even as I now see we\u2019re back to name calling and that I have some new ones like, \u2018highly overrated lightweight\u2019 to add to the list you signed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maher then warned that he\u2019d be by \u201cwith a new one,\u201d implying he\u2019d respond in kind amid their fallout. Though, Maher also defended that he\u2019s made a point to callout those who\u2019ve made hating the president \u201ctheir whole reason to live.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, Maher challenged the president to stop making \u201cpeople crazy,\u201d accusing the president of doing \u201cthings that are racist, misogynistic, anti-democratic and corrupt.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maher then provided evidence proving he doesn\u2019t have the \u201cdreaded TDS,\u201d noting he never threw Trump \u201cunder the bus.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI consider myself lucky I got in to talk to you without giving you a 747 or buying your cryptocurrency or giving you my Nobel Prize,\u201d he said before sharing footage of the times he voice support for Trump\u2019s policies regarding Israel, NATO, marijuana and more.<\/p>\n

\u201cSee, that\u2019s the difference between you and me, Don, I can admit when I\u2019m wrong and I can be honest,\u201d Maher sounded off. \u201cIn fact, I may be the last person from the lunatic left that is still an honest broker when it comes to you.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cIt\u2019s a shame you can\u2019t take criticism, because in an alternative universe where we could have further honest conversations, I could say things to you that might be quite helpful, like, \u2018Don, I\u2019m going to level with you. I\u2019m going to give it to you straight. Some people don\u2019t like you.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Maher didn\u2019t stop there, as he also called out ICE under Trump, Elon Musk\u2019s DOGE and for the president\u2019s obsession with hating \u201cCanada and wind.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not derangement for me to be always calling out the election-denying obsession you have or the pardons-for-my-friends-and-punishment-for-my-enemies mode of governing or the side deals for your family that always seem to be part of everything,\u201d he stated. \u201cWe see how rich you\u2019ve all become, but the people of West Virginia don\u2019t seem to be feeling the winning. Maher\u2019s commentary came three weeks after Trump laid into the late night host, in which he said their prior dinner was a \u201ctotal waste of time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes in life you waste time! T.V. Host Bill Maher asked to have dinner with me through one of his friends, also a friend of mine, and I agreed. He came into the famed Oval Office much different than I thought he would be,\u201d the president wrote at the time. \u201cHe was extremely nervous, had ZERO confidence in himself and, to soothe his nerves, immediately, within seconds, asked for a \u201cVodka Tonic.\u201d He said to me, \u201cI\u2019ve never felt like this before, I\u2019m actually scared.\u201d In one respect, it was somewhat endearing!\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump then accused Maher of touting \u201cvery boring,\u201d \u201canti-Trump\u201d messaging on his show, adding, \u201cBill continues to suffer from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS!), and there is nothing that will ever be done to cure him of this very serious disease.\u201d<\/p>\n
