{"id":510542,"date":"2026-03-08T04:53:14","date_gmt":"2026-03-08T04:53:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/510542\/"},"modified":"2026-03-08T04:53:14","modified_gmt":"2026-03-08T04:53:14","slug":"bear-baiting-other-controversial-sport-hunting-in-alaskas-national-preserves-may-be-back-on-the-table","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/510542\/","title":{"rendered":"Bear baiting, other controversial sport hunting in Alaska\u2019s national preserves may be back on the table"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) &#8211; The Department of the Interior is moving to roll back nearly a decade of federal hunting restrictions in Alaska\u2019s national preserves, reigniting a long-running battle over who controls wildlife management on federal lands.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The DOI submitted a proposed rule on Friday to restore longstanding hunting and trapping regulations on Alaska\u2019s national preserves.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The proposed rule will be published in the Federal Register on March 10 and will be open for a 60-day public comment period. The National Park Service has initiated pre-consultation outreach with Tribes and Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act corporations and will conduct formal Tribal consultation during the rulemaking process.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">See a spelling or grammar error?
