However, things took a turn in her personal life after her father passed away suddenly from a heart attack in 2019.<\/p>\n The following year in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Anisimova, like Naomi Osaka, began talking about her mental health struggles and balancing that with the game of tennis.<\/p>\n In 2020 and the years following, Anisimova never saw the success that she did as a teenager. The losses soon piled up and became too much, and she left the sport in 2023 for a mental health break.<\/p>\n Anisimova\u00a0eventually started training again and returned to the tour last year.
