Ryan Gosling may be hosting Saturday Night Live tonight, but it\u2019s Harry Styles\u2019 show. The Grammy-winning musician, who\u2019s pulling double duty on the late-nighter next week<\/a>, unexpectedly crashed the Barbie star\u2019s opening monologue \u2014 to take notes, of course.<\/p>\n

\u201cIs that \u2026 Harry Styles?\u201d Gosling questioned. \u201cWhat are you doing here, man?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been awhile, so I wanted to watch, get a feel for it,\u201d the Brit pop singer replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo professional, that\u2019s so awesome,\u201d Gosling replied, thinly veiling his jealousy while accidentally calling his upcoming film \u201cProject Harry Styles\u201d as opposed to Project Hail Mary.<\/p>\n

The camera then kept panning to Styles, detracting from Gosling\u2019s monologue about earth on the Studio 8H stage.<\/p>\n

\u201cCould you listen less cool? It\u2019s like your coolness is becoming an issue,\u201d Gosling bemoaned.<\/p>\n

The cameraman, wearing an \u201cI <3 Harry\u201d shirt, then opted for a split-screen. When the La La Land actor requested the split-screen be taken away, he got his wish \u2014 just with Styles dominating the frame instead.<\/p>\n

Opting to relive the glory of the \u201cI\u2019m Just Ken\u201d Oscar days, Gosling tried for a song, but feeling discouraged, ultimately called off the background dancers dressed as aliens. Sarah Sherman, meanwhile, remarked, \u201cGet me to God\u2019s country,\u201d Morgan Wallen\u2019s previous viral refrain about SNL<\/a>, as she shimmied over to Styles.<\/p>\n

In continuing his promotion for Project Hail Mary, Gosling shouted out his co-star Sandra H\u00fcller, who sings \u201cSign of the Times\u201d in the sci-fi film. \u201cNobody wants this,\u201d he remarked ruefully about performing the hit track in front of the man who penned it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d take a bullet right now,\u201d he said, referring to the song\u2019s lyric, \u201cWhy are we always stuck and running from the bullets, the bullet?\u201d<\/p>\n

When Mikey Day appeared toward the end of the opener to comfort Gosling with a kiss, he was joined by a majority of the cast. Did they come \u201cbecause I\u2019m, like, your favorite host of all time?\u201d The Fall Guy star asked. Nope, they came for Harry.<\/p>\n
