(WSMV) &#8211; An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsmv.com\/2026\/03\/05\/oryx-loose-animal-missing-middle-tennessee\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wsmv.com\/2026\/03\/05\/oryx-loose-animal-missing-middle-tennessee\/\">oryx antelope<\/a> that had been roaming parts of Middle Tennessee was safely returned to its owners Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsmv.com\/2026\/03\/05\/never-seen-anything-like-it-oryx-spotted-roaming-joelton\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wsmv.com\/2026\/03\/05\/never-seen-anything-like-it-oryx-spotted-roaming-joelton\/\">exotic animal, native to Africa,<\/a> had been spotted earlier this week in Joelton. Neighbors initially reported seeing it along Old Marrowbone Road. The unexpected sighting caused traffic delays as drivers slowed down to get a look.<\/p>\n<p>Locals say they kept watch overnight after spotting the exotic animal in a field between Highway 12 and the Cumberland River.<a class=\"link | text-reset d-block h-100 w-100\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsmv.com\/page\/our-apps\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_self\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"WSMV - template image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/1772990893_463_PYQCNXWUIVE27BALA565ZY2LFQ.png\" width=\"980\" height=\"199\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Late Friday, locals located the oryx again. This time the animal was seen in Ashland City.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">They say they found the animal in a field between Highway 12 and the Cumberland River and contacted wildlife officials and the animal\u2019s owner.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Two men from Cheatham County told WSMV4 they kept an eye on the oryx overnight, giving it corn and water while watching from a safe distance until the owners arrived.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The antelope was safely captured by its owners early Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2025 WSMV.
