{"id":512212,"date":"2026-03-09T03:01:21","date_gmt":"2026-03-09T03:01:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/512212\/"},"modified":"2026-03-09T03:01:21","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T03:01:21","slug":"openai-delays-chatgpts-adult-mode-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/512212\/","title":{"rendered":"OpenAI delays ChatGPT\u2019s \u2018adult mode\u2019 again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"speakable-summary\" class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">OpenAI has delayed the launch of \u201cadult mode,\u201d a ChatGPT feature that will give verified adult users access to erotica and other adult content.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">OpenAI CEO Sam Altman first <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/10\/14\/sam-altman-says-chatgpt-will-soon-allow-erotica-for-adult-users\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">announced the feature in October<\/a>, writing, \u201cIn December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our \u2018treat adult users like adults\u2019 principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The launch had already been <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2025\/12\/11\/openai-chatgpt-model-code-red-google-gemini\" target=\"_blank\">delayed once,<\/a> from December \u2014 when Altman reportedly sent an internal memo declaring a \u201ccode red\u201d and calling for teams to focus on the core ChatGPT experience \u2014 until the first quarter of this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2026\/03\/06\/openai-delays-chatgpt-adult-mode\" target=\"_blank\">an OpenAI spokesperson has told Axios<\/a> that the company is\u00a0 \u201cpushing out the launch of adult mode\u201d in order to \u201cfocus on work that is a higher priority for more users right now,\u201d such as work on aspects like intelligence, personality, and making the chatbot \u201cmore proactive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe still believe in the principle of treating adults like adults, but getting the experience right will take more time, \u201d the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s not clear how long the delay is expected to last.
