AC Milan<\/a> cut Inter Milan<\/a>‘s lead at the top of Serie A<\/a> to seven points after a 1-0 victory in the derby at San Siro.<\/p>\n

Pervis Estupi\u00f1\u00e1n’<\/a>s first-half strike saw Milan complete a Serie A derby double over their fierce city rivals for the first time since 2011.<\/p>\n

It extended Inter’s winless run in the Derby della Madonnina to seven games as Massimiliano Allegri secured his fifth victory from 10 derbies as Rossoneri boss across two stints.<\/p>\n

Milan almost went ahead when Luka Modric<\/a> pounced on a mistake by Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer<\/a>, only to whistle his shot inches wide.<\/p>\n

\"PervisPervis Estupi\u00f1\u00e1n scored his first Milan goal to seal three points against Inter.<\/p>\n

Inter had gone 15 league matches undefeated since that 1-0 loss to Milan in November and had scored in every single Serie A match in that sequence, but the road has been a bit rockier recently.<\/p>\n

Cristian Chivu’s men were shocked by Norwegian club Bodo\/Glimt<\/a> in the Champions League playoff round and could only secure a goalless draw in the first leg of their Coppa Italia<\/a> semifinal clash with promoted Como<\/a> last week.<\/p>\n

On Sunday evening they should have taken the lead when Henrikh Mkhitaryan<\/a> ran 40 yards past three defenders and into the Milan box, only to put a weak finish straight into the chest of Mike Maignan<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Instead, barely a minute later, Milan did go ahead thanks to a perfectly weighted pass through a gap in Inter’s defence from Youssouf Fofana<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Overlapping full back Estupi\u00f1\u00e1n held off the pursuing Luis Henrique<\/a> before emphatically crashing his left-footed shot high inside Sommer’s near post.<\/p>\n

Milan almost doubled their lead before halftime after Christian Pulisic<\/a> fizzed in a low cross, but Alexis Saelemaekers’ finish was wayward under pressure from Federico Dimarco<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After the break a burst forward from Pulisic created a shooting opportunity for Rafael Le\u00e3o<\/a>, but he fired across goal and wide before a Fofana drive was beaten away by Sommer.<\/p>\n
