The Los Angeles Lakers<\/a> pulled off arguably one of the most surprising trades in NBA history over a year ago. LA convinced former Dallas Mavericks<\/a> GM Nico Harrison to agree to a deal for Luka Doncic. The Lakers were thrilled with the move, and even Doncic has made it clear he wants to win now with them.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u010di\u0107 being just 26 gives the Lakers a far longer timeline to build a championship-contending team, but that doesn’t mean they can slow down and take their time. Don\u010di\u0107 told Lakers president Rob Pelinka and coach JJ Redick in May that he’s not interested in taking the slow approach in building a contender,\u201d CBS Sports\u2019 Jasmyn Wimbish wrote.<\/p>\n

For LeBron James, this has allowed him to step back while still being on a team contending for a championship \u2014 just as he wanted.<\/p>\n

The Lakers are starting to buckle down on defense, which is promising, but it doesn\u2019t help if the team struggles to score. Fans want to see the big three together, but it might not be what the team actually needs.<\/p>\n
