{"id":517019,"date":"2026-03-11T12:26:34","date_gmt":"2026-03-11T12:26:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/517019\/"},"modified":"2026-03-11T12:26:34","modified_gmt":"2026-03-11T12:26:34","slug":"social-security-is-paid-out-on-wednesday-mar-11-who-benefits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/517019\/","title":{"rendered":"Social Security is paid out on Wednesday, Mar. 11: who benefits?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">This week, millions of Social Security beneficiaries are to get their latest monthly payment, as the U.S.\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/en.as.com\/news\/seguridad-social\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/en.as.com\/news\/seguridad-social\/\">Social Security<\/a> Administration (SSA) kicks off <a href=\"https:\/\/en.as.com\/latest_news\/when-are-social-security-and-ssi-benefits-going-out-in-march-2026-the-complete-payment-schedule-f202602-n\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/en.as.com\/latest_news\/when-are-social-security-and-ssi-benefits-going-out-in-march-2026-the-complete-payment-schedule-f202602-n\/\">March 2026\u2019s<\/a> three-Wednesdays distribution cycle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">On Wednesday, Mar. 11, 2026, the SSA is to send out benefits to certain recipients of Social Security retirement, disability or survivor pay.<\/p>\n<p>What is the SSA\u2019s three-Wednesdays payment cycle?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Of the U.S.\u2019s 70.6 million recipients of retirement, disability or survivor benefits, most are paid on the second, third or fourth Wednesday in each month. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">A beneficiary\u2019s designated Wednesday is decided by the date of birth of the worker whose Social Security taxes have earned the benefits entitlement. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">If you receive benefits based on your own work record, your date of birth is used. If you claim benefits based on someone\u2019s employment history &#8211; e.g. that of a spouse or parent &#8211; the SSA uses the other person\u2019s birthday.<\/p>\n<p>Who gets Social Security benefits on Mar. 11?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">As it falls on the second Wednesday in March 2026, this week\u2019s payment run covers birthdays between the first and 10th of any month. March\u2019s full three-Wednesdays payment cycle is as follows:<\/p>\n<p>Born on 1st-10th: Weds., Mar. 11Born on 11th-20th: Weds., Mar. 18Born on 21st-31st: Weds., Mar. 25<\/p>\n<p>Who isn\u2019t paid benefits on a Wednesday in March 2026?Some long-term Social Security recipients<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Beneficiaries who starting claiming Social Security retirement, disability or survivor benefits before May 1997 are typically paid on the third day of each month, irrespective of their date of birth. This month, these long-standing recipients were therefore due to be sent their benefits on Tuesday, Mar. 3.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Recipients of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/ssi\/text-over-ussi.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/ssi\/text-over-ussi.htm\">Supplemental Security Income<\/a> (SSI) &#8211; a separate SSA benefit for low-income Americans who are over 65 or have a disability &#8211; are normally paid on the first of the month, regardless of their date of birth. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">However, as Mar. 1 was a weekend day, this month\u2019s SSI payment date was brought forward to the nearest working day before then: Friday, Feb. 27.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Unlike the SSA\u2019s retirement, disability and survivor programs, SSI is a purely needs-based scheme. It does not depend on a recipient\u2019s Social Security-tax contributions.<\/p>\n<p>Dual recipients (SSI + regular Social Security)<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">In the U.S., around 2.5 million people receive both SSI and one of the SSA\u2019s retirement, disability or survivor benefits. Social Security beneficiaries can update their banking information using the online \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=fFmSHpg-ib4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=fFmSHpg-ib4\">my Social Security<\/a>\u201d tool. SSI recipients should call 1-800-772-1213.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Alternatively, benefits can be loaded onto the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/faqs\/en\/questions\/KA-02429.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/faqs\/en\/questions\/KA-02429.html\">Direct Express Card<\/a>, a debit card for federal payments made to recipients who do not have a bank account.
