\n\tJimmy Kimmel<\/a> spent a lot of time ragging on Melania Trump<\/a> in January amid the theatrical release for her panned documentary \u201cMelania<\/a>,\u201d but now he\u2019s actually seen the Brett Ratner-directed movie. \u201cMelania\u201d began streaming March 9 on Amazon Prime Video. Kimmel informed his late-night viewers during his March 10 monologue that he finally watched the doc, quipping: \u201cBetween this and\u00a0\u2018Sinners,\u2019 it\u2019s been a big year for vampire movies.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhile some might say that it is not a great look to be plugging your vanity project while your husband\u2019s bombing another country, Melania has never cared much about optics,\u201d Kimmel continued. \u201cShe can\u2019t even pronounce optics. More than anything, this documentary is dreadfully dull. The whole thing is Melania going to fittings, riding in a car, trying on clothes, and interviewing people to work for her.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tKimmel showed a clip from \u201cMelania\u201d in which Donald Trump calls his wife to inform her that he\u2019s secured a second term as president after the 2024 election. Melania congratulates Donald but informs him that she did not watch the election results in real time.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYou really should try and watch it,\u201d Donald tells his wife, who responds: \u201cI will see it. Yeah, I will see it on the news.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tKimmel reacted to the footage by saying: \u201c[This is] one of the funniest conversations I\u2019ve ever heard. It almost makes me feel a little bad for him. She does not care at all.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe ABC late-night host was critical of \u201cMelania\u201d since before the documentary opened, when he\u00a0ripped the movie\u00a0<\/a>as a \u201c$75 million bribe\u201d that \u201cAmazon made for her.\u201d\u00a0The host\u00a0then roasted<\/a>\u00a0the movie\u2019s $7 million box office debut by saying \u201cit set a record. It was the biggest opening for a non-musical vanity project\/brazen corporate bribe in the last 10 years.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tKimmel later turned his attention<\/a> towards \u201cMelania\u201d reviews, which were largely been negative compared to through-the-roof audience scores.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAs of tonight, \u2018Melania\u2019 has a score of 5% on Rotten Tomatoes from the critics. That is very low,\u201d Kimmel said. \u201cTo put that in perspective, that is 1% lower than \u2018Gigli.\u2019 The audience score for\u00a0\u2018Melania\u2019\u00a0is 99% positive, which is 1% higher than\u00a0\u2018The Godfather.\u2019 And I\u2019m sure Donald J. Corleone had nothing to do with that at all.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe movie\u2019s audience scores led to theories that MAGA-supported bots were driving up the score, which prompted Rotten Tomatoes\u2019 parent company Versant to release a statement<\/a> denying such claims.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThere has been no bot manipulation on the audience reviews for the \u2018Melania\u2019 documentary,\u201d Versant said in a statement to\u00a0Variety.\u00a0\u201cReviews displayed on the Popcornmeter are VERIFIED reviews, meaning it has been verified that users have bought a ticket to the film.\u201d<\/p>\n
