LAST MEETING – Seattle and Los Angeles-based Angel City FC last met on March 30 at BMO Stadium. The Reign narrowly fell 2-1 after climbing their way back from a one goal deficit in the first half. Just the second road trip of the season for the team, it was their first loss of 2025. Seattle’s lone goal came from a penalty kick, earned by forward Ana-Maria Crnogorčević. Midfielder Ji So-Yun stepped up to the spot to take the kick and confidently converted to bring the game level.

In all NWSL competitions, the Reign lead the head-to-head series with eight wins, three losses and one draw, and have outscored Angel City 21 goals to 12.

2. SCOUTING ANGEL CITY FC – Angel City currently sits in 11th place in the NWSL standings, with 15 points from 13 games. They have earned four wins, six losses and three draws this season.

Most recently, Angel City FC played a friendly match against USL Super League’s Carolina Ascent, winning 4-2, despite conceding the first goal just two minutes into play. All four Angel City goals were scored by forward Alyssa Thompson, marking the first time in club history that a player has scored four goals in one match.

Before the month-long break from NWSL play, Angel City took on the first-place Kansas City Current and fell 1-0. Angel City held just under 55% of possession in the match but were outshot 13-3 by the home side. The first half of the match went scoreless, and the second half brought a chance from the spot for Angel City, as Thompson was fouled in the box. She stepped up to the spot to take the kick and sent her shot left, but Kansas City goalkeeper Lorena read the shot correctly and dove to make the save. KC forward Bia Zaneratto scored the game-winning goal in the 69th minute, preventing Angel City from taking home points.

3. REIGN ON A ROLL – Reign FC enters the match against Angel City with momentum, as the team is unbeaten in five consecutive matches across all competitions. Before the NWSL break, the team earned seven points across a tough three-match road stretch against San Diego Wave FC, Chicago Stars FC and Utah Royals FC. On June 21 against the Royals, the Reign scored four goals in a single match for the first time this season. Ji and forward Maddie Dahlien added a goal apiece, while forward Emeri Adames earned a brace.

The Reign also added two positive results in friendly matches over the break from regular season play. First, the team hosted Urawa Red Diamonds and beat them 2-1 on a brace from defender Sofia Huerta, who recently returned from loan. Then, the team traveled to Portland to take on the Thorns. The rivals tied 0-0 in regulation, so the game was decided by penalty kicks. Goalkeeper Claudia Dickey showed out, saving two shots. Midfielder Maddie Mercado hit home the winning penalty kick in the match.

4. PLAYERS TO WATCH – Reign FC recently made a blockbuster signing, bringing forward Mia Fishel to the team. Fishel could make her NWSL debut on Friday after giving fans a small glimpse of what she brings to the pitch in the club’s two friendly matches. Similarly, Huerta, who impressed in her two recent showings, could make her return to NWSL action for the first time since summer 2024.

For Angel City, Alyssa Thompson continues to be a high-impact player. She scored the team’s four goals in their most recent match and has five this season. She also added two goals for the United States Women’s National Team over the break. In addition, forward Riley Tiernan has been a consistent performer, adding a team-high seven goals throughout the season.

Match Forecast: Reign FC Set to Take on Angel City in Annual Pride Match Presented by The Starbucks…

[46
191,74
0":"post-51842","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-computing","8":"tag-computing","9":"tag-technology
["GET
