{"id":521408,"date":"2026-03-13T15:51:20","date_gmt":"2026-03-13T15:51:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/521408\/"},"modified":"2026-03-13T15:51:20","modified_gmt":"2026-03-13T15:51:20","slug":"mad-maxs-homa-greyserman-with-wild-scorecards-on-day-1-of-the-players","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/521408\/","title":{"rendered":"Mad Max(s): Homa, Greyserman with wild scorecards on Day 1 of The Players"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What a crazy day to be a Max.<\/p>\n<p>Max Homa and Max Greyserman produced Hitchcockian scorecards in Round 1 of The Players Championship, filled with thrills, horror and anxiety.<\/p>\n<p>Homa began his day with <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/shorts\/GgnPBumcbv0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">a hole-out eagle at the par-4 10th<\/a>, his first hole of the championship. He then birdied the 11th, doubled the 12th, bogeyed the 14th and doubled the 15th.<\/p>\n<p>After turning in 2-over 38, Homa made another bogey at the par-4 first before a birdie at the second and then four consecutive scorecard circles on Nos. 5-8 (with a <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.golfchannel.com\/pga-tour\/news\/round-1-of-players-championship-suspended-because-of-inclement-weather\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">brief weather suspension<\/a> included).<\/p>\n<p>The day ended, however, with a bogey-6 on the par-5 ninth. In all, it was a one-eagle, six-birdie, two-bogey, two-double, 1-under 71.<\/p>\n<p>    <a class=\"AnchorLink\" id=\"image-8f0000\"\/><\/p>\n<p>    <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"Image\" alt=\"homa.jpg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"94\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/1773417080_642_.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been playing really well, so it was very frustrating how erratic it was,\u201d Homa said. &#8221; &#8230; it was one of the weirder days I\u2019ve ever had.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou really have to have conversations with yourself that you\u2019ve got to start over. Some of the doubles I really didn\u2019t do that much wrong. My second double I whiffed a 3-footer. That was the painful part. But I didn\u2019t hit an awful tee shot, didn\u2019t hit an awful second shot, it buries under the lip, did a good job of giving myself 3 feet for bogey. But it\u2019s easier said than done. Pretty upset, and you\u2019ve just got to remind yourself that it wasn\u2019t that far off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Greyserman, who started on the front nine, birdied five of his first seven holes to grab the early lead at 5 under. By the time he stood on the tee at the par-3 17th, however, he was 2 over for the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>    <a class=\"AnchorLink\" id=\"image-af0000\"\/><\/p>\n<p>    <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"Image\" alt=\"greyserman.jpg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"96\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/1773417080_986_.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Greyserman played Nos. 10-15 in 7 over par, with three bogeys and two doubles. He stuffed his shot on 17 to make birdie and finished with a ho-hum par for a 1-over 73.<\/p>\n<p>A third Max in the field, Max McGreevy, was among the afternoon wave.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"What a crazy day to be a Max.
