\n\t\u201cPeaky Blinders\u201d creator Steven Knight<\/a> has been hired to pen the script for Denis Villeneuve<\/a>\u2018s upcoming James Bond<\/a> movie at Amazon MGM Studios.<\/p>\n

\n\tAmy Pascal and David Heyman are producing the new 007 movie, via Pascal Pictures and Heyday Films, respectively. Tanya Lapointe will executive produce.<\/p>\n

\n\tKnight is best known as the creator, executive producer and writer of the hit BAFTA-winning gangster drama series \u201cPeaky Blinders,\u201d starring Cillian Murphy. The British screenwriter, producer and director\u2019s TV resume also includes such acclaimed shows as \u201cSee\u201d (Apple TV+), \u201cSAS Rogue Heroes\u201d (BBC), \u201cA Thousand Blows\u201d (Disney+), \u201cThis Town\u201d (BBC), \u201cThe Veil\u201d (FX) and \u201cAll the Light We Cannot See\u201d (Netflix). He also co-created the international game show \u201cWho Wants to Be a Millionaire?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tKnight\u2019s first produced film, \u201cDirty Pretty Things,\u201d directed by Stephen Frears, won four BIFAs, the 2005 Humanitas Prize for Film and earned an Academy Award nomination for best original screenplay, among other honors. Knight also wrote the screenplays for the Oscar-nominated films \u201cEastern Promises\u201d and \u201cSpencer,\u201d as well as three films that he also directed: \u201cHummingbird,\u201d \u201cLocke\u201d and \u201cSerenity.\u201d Upcoming projects include the hotly anticipated \u201cPeaky Blinders\u201d feature film for Netflix<\/a> and the historical drama series \u201cHouse of Guinness,\u201d which will also debut on the streamer.<\/p>\n

\n\tVilleneuve was officially hired to helm<\/a> James Bond\u2019s 26th outing last month, and Variety subsequently reported<\/a> that the studio was looking to attach a screenwriter with some haste as the studio eyed a potential 2028 release date. (Anything sooner would be impossible to pull off, given the film\u2019s scale, sources said at the time.) The next step will be to lock in the actor who will fill the suave superspy\u2019s Savile Row suits.<\/p>\n

\n\tDevelopment on a new Bond installment has been a high priority since Amazon acquired MGM and its lucrative film library in 2021. Earlier this year, Amazon MGM gained creative control of the franchise from longtime stewards, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.<\/p>\n
