New England Patriots<\/a> fans may have to abandon hope of landing A.J. Brown.<\/p>\n

The Philadelphia Eagles have decided not to trade Brown “at this time,” according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini<\/a>, after having “serious conversations” with the Patriots and Los Angeles Rams. However, Russini didn’t fully shut the door on a deal occurring this offseason.<\/p>\n

“Both teams remain interested, but no move is imminent,” Russini wrote. “If a trade were to happen, it would likely heat up closer to June 1.”<\/p>\n

Trade rumors have surfaced around Brown after the Eagles suffered a disappointing first-round playoff elimination. Brown settled for 25 yards in a 23-19 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.<\/p>\n

Acquired from Mike Vrabel’s Tennessee Titans in 2022, Brown has exceeded 1,000 receiving yards in all four seasons with the Eagles. Yet he narrowly hit that mark at 1,003 last season and averaged a career-low 12.9 yards per catch.<\/p>\n

Brown appeared frustrated with an inconsistent Eagles offense that stumbled down the stretch. Yet all signs indicated that general manager Howie Roseman would require a hefty return<\/a> to consider moving the three-time Pro Bowler.<\/p>\n

The Vrabel connection still made New England an intriguing fit to attain the star receiver, especially after the AFC champions cut Stefon Diggs. Signing Romeo Doubs to a four-year deal reportedly didn’t halt<\/a> the team’s pursuit of Brown.<\/p>\n

Russini revealed a surprise competitor for Brown’s services, reporting earlier<\/a> on Friday that the Rams are monitoring the situation. Matthew Stafford narrowly won the MVP award over Drake Maye with an NFL-high 4,707 passing yards, so the NFC West squad is hardly desperate to add another receiver alongside Puka Nacua and Davante Adams.<\/p>\n

While Russini suggested the Eagles could revisit trade talks later this spring, one would think it’d make more sense to act before next month’s draft to acquire 2026 picks. Philadelphia reportedly wanted<\/a> at least a first- and second-round selection for Brown.<\/p>\n
