I like to compete. I like to give everything I have. I like winning.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Peraza, still just 25, had been one of the Yankees\u2019 top prospects in recent years \u2014 No. 2 in 2022 and No. 3 in 2023, per MLB Pipeline \u2014 but has struggled mightily in the majors. It\u2019s kind of tough, my energy level might be a little low right now, but everything happens for a reason and I keep moving forward.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Caballero will fill the backup shortstop and third baseman void left by Peraza\u2019s departure, but he has plenty of defensive versatility. <\/p>\n<p>Rays infielder Jos\u00e9 Caballero was traded to the Yankees in the middle of the Bombers\u2019 win on July 31, 2025.
