The Boston Celtics<\/a> have added some size and talent to their roster.<\/p>\n

The new signing: Charles Bassey.<\/p>\n

Michael Scotto reported the deal<\/a> on Saturday, noting that it’s a 10-day contract for Bassey.<\/p>\n

Bassey was once a top-10 recruit in his class who took a bit of an unusual path, going to Western Kentucky.<\/p>\n

The Philadelphia 76ers<\/a> took him with the No. 53 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-10 center has played parts of five NBA seasons since being drafted. Three of those stints have come with the San Antonio Spurs<\/a>, along with two stints with the 76ers and one with the Memphis Grizzlies<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bassey had 90 games played with the Spurs in which he averaged 12.1 minutes, 4.7 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.<\/p>\n

He only played 7.3 minutes per game in his rookie year stint with the 76ers.<\/p>\n

This season, Bassey got two games with the Grizzlies, in which he played a total of 31 minutes and compiled 7 points and 15 rebounds.<\/p>\n

He just played one game with the 76ers, too, in which he got just five minutes and scored two points with a block.<\/p>\n

Now, the Celtics are adding the frontcourt depth, at least for a short time. It may not be a move that ends up mattering, but Bassey is talented enough to make an impact if given the opportunity.<\/p>\n
