\n\tSteven Knight<\/a> was announced as the scribe of Amazon\u2019s first James Bond<\/a> flick last night<\/a>, and this morning, the Peaky Blinders creator gave his first reaction to landing the gig on BBC Radio.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt has always been on my bucket list, and it\u2019s fantastic to be invited to do it. I can\u2019t wait to get started,\u201d Knight said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m hoping that, being a Bond fan for so many years, it will be imbued into me and I will be able to produce something that\u2019s the same but different, and better, stronger and bolder.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tKnight will be writing the screenplay for Denis Villeneuve to direct; however, the writer would not be drawn on who might star as 007.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThat is a very, very good question, and one I can\u2019t give you the answer to,\u201d Knight said when quizzed by BBC Radio.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tAmy Pascal and David Heyman are producing the film, while Tanya Lapointe will executive produce. While there have been rumors about who could potentially play the coveted lead role, sources told us the only focus in recent weeks has been who would write the script, with a number of meetings taking place with potential candidates.\u00a0In recent weeks, Knight is said to have been the number one target, but a final sign-off could not be given until he met with Villeneuve, who is currently filming the next Dune film. That meeting took place last week, with Villeneuve fully on board for Knight to get the job.<\/p>\n

\n\tKnight, is the creator, executive producer and writer of BAFTA-winning series\u00a0Peaky Blinders, starring Cillian Murphy, as well as series including the Emmy-nominated\u00a0Taboo\u00a0(BBC\/FX) and\u00a0See\u00a0(Apple TV+), the BAFTA-nominated\u00a0SAS Rogue Heroes\u00a0(BBC), as well as\u00a0A Thousand Blows\u00a0(Disney+),\u00a0This Town\u00a0(BBC),\u00a0The Veil\u00a0(FX) and\u00a0All the Light We Cannot See\u00a0(Netflix).
