Los Angeles Dodgers <\/a>starting pitcher Gavin Stone<\/a> made his way back to the mound after missing more than a year on the injured list, but a setback has him missing Opening Day.<\/p>\n

Stone had a gruesome shoulder surgery<\/a>, which involved a total reconstruction, essentially. As a result, he ended up missing the entire 2025 season, along with part of the 2024 season, simply recovering from alilment.<\/p>\n

The righty was ready at the start of spring camp to get going on the mound once again, taking part in bullpen sessions and throwing the ball with a careful ramp-up plan.<\/p>\n

He made one start in the spring rotation, but a shoulder setback led him to cease all throwing in the middle of camp.<\/p>\n

While he has not thrown a ball in more than a week, according to Stone, he will be playing catch next week and aims to be pitching off the mound \u201cnext month,\u201d per David Vassegh<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Manager Dave Roberts had said that the team \u201cdodged a bullet\u201d with regard to Stone\u2019s injury, and that it is more of a precautionary stop rather than a total reaction to another complication that will require an extended time off.<\/p>\n

Gavin Stone\u2019s return<\/p>\n

After making his sole start, which was just an inning long, Stone was quite happy to have his one outing over and done with, becoming closer to establishing himself as a pitcher on the roster.<\/p>\n

\u201d\u2026As long as I could replicate the stuff I had in \u201824 I knew I\u2019d be okay. Getting back to that point, working on the velo\u2026 I\u2019m just ready to go out there and get outs for the guys. I don\u2019t really care about personal accomplishments or what I do out there as long as I can get outs for the guys as long as we can push for a three-peat.\u201d<\/p>\n
