Move strengthens MIC\u2019s efforts to expand the market and
support riders at every stage<\/p>\n
IRVINE, CA \u2013 August 1, 2025 \u2013 (Motor Sports NewsWire<\/a>) \u2013 The United States Motorcycle Coaching Association, dedicated to connecting riders with certified motorcycle coaches across the country, is now a program within the Motorcycle Industry Council. This is part of MIC\u2019s broader market expansion initiative, and reinforces the organization\u2019s commitment to supporting lifelong rider development and growing participation in the powersports industry.<\/p>\n Founded in 2016, USMCA was created by a coalition of industry leaders, racers, and educators to provide new and returning riders with access to vetted, professional coaches in safe, closed-course environments. MIC will carry on the operation of USMCA\u2019s searchable platform \u2013 and will continue to make it available at MotorcycleCoaching.org<\/a> and via the Motorcycle Coaching mobile app \u2013 allowing users to locate certified coaches by entering their city, state, or ZIP code.<\/p>\n \u201cAs part of MIC, USMCA will continue to connect riders with trusted, skilled coaches through an easy-to-use platform,\u201d said Christy LaCurelle, President and CEO of the MIC. \u201cAnd since each coach must pass basic prerequisites and background checks, riders and their families can feel confident in their safety and quality of instruction. This move strengthens MIC\u2019s efforts to grow ridership in meaningful, sustainable ways, and ensures we\u2019re supporting riders long after their first ride.\u201d<\/p>\n All USMCA coaches undergo a certification process that includes background checks, CPR certification, and training in heat stroke and heart attack awareness. They also follow a code of conduct that emphasizes safety, professionalism, and mentorship.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re excited to continue building on the foundation that USMCA established, now with the MIC,\u201d said Lindsey Scheltema, who will continue to run USMCA as a business division of the MIC. \u201cCoaching is one of the most effective ways to improve safety, confidence, and retention in our sport. At MIC, we can expand access and reach even more riders across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n The network currently includes more than 425 active coaches, with a goal of reaching 500 in the next year. USMCA aims to connect 250,000 new and returning riders with coaching by the end of 2025.<\/p>\n Scheltema and Technology Director Mark Wilson will continue their work with the USMCA program.
