WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – School districts across southeastern North Carolina are announcing changes due to severe weather<\/a> expected to impact the area on Monday, March 16.<\/p>\n

Cape Fear Community College<\/p>\n

Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) announced it will switch to remote instruction, and employees are asked to work from home on Monday due to the severe weather expected to impact southeastern North Carolina.<\/p>\n

All CFCC locations will be closed, and all scheduled events will be cancelled.<\/p>\n

CFCC added that the Bonnie Sanders Burney Child Development Center will be closed for the day.<\/p>\n

Bladen Community College<\/p>\n

Due to the threat of severe weather, Bladen Community College will be closed for students, staff, and faculty on Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cFaculty and staff will work remotely,\u201d college officials said. \u201cStudents should check Moodle for any updates and course instructions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brunswick Community College<\/p>\n

Brunswick Community College has closed all campus locations on Monday due to the threat of severe weather. This closure includes the Dinah E. Gore Sports & Aquatics Complex and the Odell Williamson Auditorium. <\/p>\n

Classical Charter Schools<\/p>\n

Due to the potential of severe weather, students enrolled at the Classical Charter Schools of Wilmington, Leland, Whiteville and Southport will have no school on Monday.<\/p>\n

School officials announced it will be a teacher work day. <\/p>\n

New Hanover County Schools<\/p>\n

New Hanover County Schools announced that schools will operate on a remote learning day for students on Monday, March 16.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe safety of our students, staff, and families is always our first priority,\u201d the district said. \u201cBased on the updated forecast, we believe shifting students to a remote day is the most responsible step to ensure everyone remains safe.\u201d<\/p>\n

All extracurricular activities, athletics and after-school events scheduled for Monday have been cancelled as well.<\/p>\n

Brunswick County Schools<\/p>\n

Brunswick County Schools announced schools will be closed for students on Monday. It will be an optional workday for staff.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe safety of our students and staff remains our top priority as we continue to monitor weather conditions and stay in contact with local emergency management officials,\u201d the district said. <\/p>\n

Pender County Schools<\/p>\n

Pender County Schools announced on Facebook<\/a> that schools will operate on a remote learning and work day for all staff and students on the traditional calendar, as well as for Pender Early College.<\/p>\n

The district said the decision was made \u201cout of an abundance of caution and to help ensure the safety of our students, staff, and families.\u201d <\/p>\n

The district said Penderlea School is on spring break.<\/p>\n

Bladen County Schools<\/p>\n

Bladen County Schools announced on Facebook<\/a> that students will have an asynchronous remote learning day on Monday. It will be an optional workday for staff.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll after-school events and activities are cancelled for Monday, March 16. Additionally, the special-called Board of Education meeting scheduled for Monday has been postponed until Tuesday, March 17, at 6:30 PM.\u201d<\/p>\n

Columbus County Schools <\/p>\n

Columbus County students will have no school on Monday.<\/p>\n

The school system announced on Facebook<\/a> that Monday will be an optional teacher workday for all schools except Columbus Career & College Academy (CCCA). <\/p>\n

\u201cDue to expected inclement weather tomorrow, CCCA will operate on a remote instruction schedule. There will be no afternoon or evening activities at any school tomorrow due to the weather.\u201d<\/p>\n

Whiteville City Schools<\/p>\n

Due to the potential of severe weather, Whiteville City Schools will move to remote learning on Monday. <\/p>\n

The district announced<\/a> that all after-school activities for Monday are cancelled. Staff will operate on a workday schedule. <\/p>\n
