Edmonton\u2019s general manager made some public appearances this week to speak about his franchise cornerstone. Also, the Avs need more from their secondary scoring, and there are two guys I\u2019m keeping an eye on next year.<\/p>\n

Colorado Hockey Now<\/p>\n

July has come and gone. Free agency, trades, the fallout from the draft. It\u2019s all in the past.<\/p>\n

As we enter the slowest month of the hockey calendar, I figured this would be a good time to start to look ahead. Is the Avs roster complete? Not quite. But there are three guys on the team that I\u2019m really looking forward to seeing how they do next year.<\/p>\n

Two of them are forwards, and guys that the team will need more from. And that includes a hopefully healthy season for each of them. You can read more on that below.<\/p>\n

Around The NHL<\/p>\n

McDavid, Bouchard, and More: Stan Bowman made two appearances this week to talk about two of the bigger names on his team. One of them, of course, being the face of the league, Connor McDavid.<\/p>\n

Bowman was on the 100% Hockey podcast and on Bob Stauffer\u2019s radio show. He said that he\u2019s encouraged with where talks are<\/a> with McDavid right now, even if the timeline doesn\u2019t include an extension in July.<\/p>\n

Bowman also has an issue with what people think of Evan Bouchard\u2019s new deal. Does he get too much criticism?<\/a><\/p>\n

San Jose Hockey Now:\u00a0Adam Gaudette had a great breakout season with the Senators. Can he do it again in San Jose?<\/a><\/p>\n

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Here\u2019s a pretty strong statement from Shelly Anderson<\/a> on what trading Rickard Rakell and Bryan Rust would mean for the Pens.<\/p>\n

Detroit Hockey Now:\u00a0Speaking of Rust and Rakell, do they make sense as acquisitions for the Red Wings?<\/a> Methinks one of them does, can you guess which one?<\/p>\n
