After spending Sunday night being the butt of Oscar jokes and losing the best actor race, Timoth\u00e9e\u00a0Chalamet \u2014\u00a0accompanied by girlfriend Kylie Jenner \u2014 was among the first to leave Hollywood\u2019s Dolby Theater, spies told Page Six.<\/p>\n

Hand in hand, they made a beeline across the lobby to a VIP elevator that whisks stars upstairs to the Governors Ball. The couple was closely trailed by Chalamet\u2019s \u201cMarty Supreme\u201d co-star Gwyneth Paltrow after their movie was shut out at the awards show<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were out of there,\u201d one onlooker told us of Chalamet and Jenner, who were soon seen looking loved up at the Vanity Fair bash.<\/a><\/p>\n

During the show, Chalamet, 30 \u2014\u00a0who lost the little gold man to \u201cSinners\u201d star Michael B. Jordan, as Page Six predicted<\/a> \u2014\u00a0was subjected to an on-air torrent of jibes about his recent comments that no one cares about ballet and opera.<\/p>\n

\u201cSecurity is extremely tight tonight,\u201d host\u00a0Conan O\u2019Brien said during his opener<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m told there\u2019s concerns about attacks from both the opera and ballet communities.\u201d<\/p>\n

To his credit, Chalamet was seen laughing as the host added: \u201cThey\u2019re just mad you left out jazz!\u201d<\/p>\n

But it is now the third Oscar nomination that Chalamet has lost (including \u201cCall Me By Your Name\u201d in 2018 and \u201cA Complete Unknown\u201d in 2025) \u2014\u00a0despite belief that he was the frontrunner for much of this awards season, after winning Golden Globe and Critics\u2019 Choice trophies.<\/p>\n

One well-placed film-industry source told Page Six how, when a big project flops, \u201ceveryone [involved] does a post mortem \u2026 he should definitely have that moment: \u2018I didn\u2019t get the result I wanted, what could have been the reason?’\u201d<\/p>\n

A Hollywood insider previously told Page Six that a backlash brewed against Chalamet because of his perceived \u201carrogance,\u201d saying \u201che reeks of Oscar desperation.\u201d<\/p>\n

While some in Hollywood may admire Chalamet\u2019s gonzo promotional tactics for \u201cMarty Supreme\u201d and \u201cA Complete Unknown,\u201d not enough of them are Academy voters \u2014 many of whom, sources said, may have been turned off by his weird mix of self-serious boasts about greatness and the odd Gen Z humor that fueled his wacky marketing stunts<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThree times [losing] at the rodeo, you would hope he has some self-reflection,\u201d the industry source said.<\/p>\n

During the media and marketing campaign for \u201cMarty Supreme,\u201d Chalamet had taken on the guise of his cocky character \u2014\u00a0but pivoted to be more self-reflective once he was nominated for an Oscar.<\/p>\n

So the loss came as almost a scolding from his Hollywood peers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is supposed to be the best performance, not a popularity contest,\u201d said another Tinseltown insider. \u201cArguably, Timoth\u00e9e\u2019s performance as Marty was a better acting performance than Michael B. Jordan \u2026 but [Jordan is] a nice guy, and his heartfelt speech was great.\u201d<\/p>\n

But the industry source said of Chalamet, \u201cI don\u2019t think he regrets how he marketed the film, he\u2019s always been excited by how well it does at the box office. He sent young people back to the box office to watch movies, and he\u2019s proud of that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Debra Birnbaum, editor-in-chief of awards tracking website Gold Derby, predicts we may see a more low-key Chalamet promoting his next big movies \u2014\u00a0including, reportedly, an in-development \u201cWonka\u201d sequel.<\/p>\n

\u201cNext year he\u2019ll be campaigning for \u2018Dune: Part Three,\u2019 which is more of an ensemble anyway \u2014 and he\u2019ll likely follow a \u2018less is more\u201d strategy,’\u201d Birnbaum told Page Six. \u201cHe has a long career ahead of him, and plenty of time to achieve the path to greatness.
