While the Americanized holiday typically involves parades<\/a>, green beer and shamrocks<\/a>, food is still central to the celebration in Ireland. \u201cSt. Patrick\u2019s Day in Ireland<\/a> is kind of like what Fourth of July<\/a> is [in the United States],\u201d says Dublin native Colin Comer, who co-owns The Marlay House<\/a>, an Irish pub in Decatur, Georgia<\/a>. Comer says when he was growing up in Dublin, the day meant house parties with family and food. <\/p>\n
