Schools in Minnesota\u2019s fourth-largest district are closed on Tuesday as law enforcement officials investigate threats.<\/p>\n

An alert from District 196, which includes public schools in Rosemount, Apple Valley and Eagan, says schools are closed Tuesday \u201cout of an abundance of caution.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMultiple schools received threats, and law enforcement is actively investigating. We will provide updates as more information becomes available,\u201d the district\u2019s alert states, adding, \u201cEmployees do not report to work.\u201d<\/p>\n

A district spokesperson confirmed to 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS that multiple schools received a threatening voicemail. Those threats were first discovered at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to District 196. Police were then contacted and the decision to cancel school \u2014 not a shift to e-learning \u2014 was made at around 5:45 a.m.<\/p>\n

Eagan police confirmed the department is working with neighboring agencies to investigate the threats.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt this time, we are unable to confirm the threats as credible, nor have we been able to rule them out entirely,\u201d Eagan police said.<\/p>\n

Police also encouraged anyone with information about the threats to call investigators at 651-675-5700.<\/p>\n

The closure comes a day after schools in the district were closed due to the weekend snowstorm. More than two dozen schools are opening late Tuesday because of the weather.<\/a><\/p>\n

District 196 has four early childhood schools, 20 elementary schools, six middle schools and five high schools, as well as other additional learning programs.<\/p>\n
