{"id":529019,"date":"2026-03-17T15:52:10","date_gmt":"2026-03-17T15:52:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/529019\/"},"modified":"2026-03-17T15:52:10","modified_gmt":"2026-03-17T15:52:10","slug":"phil-mickelson-returning-to-liv-golf-after-mysterious-absence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/529019\/","title":{"rendered":"Phil Mickelson returning to LIV Golf after mysterious absence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HyFlyers GC captain Phil Mickelson will return to the LIV Golf lineup this week in South Africa after missing four events due to a family health matter.<\/p>\n<p>The club announced the news on social media Tuesday, writing, \u201cCap is back,\u201d over a photo of Mickelson pumping his fist on the course.<\/p>\n<p>The three-time Masters champ will make his 2026 season debut at The Club at Steyn City, located in Johannesburg, when LIV Golf South Africa begins Thursday and runs through Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Mickelson missed four LIV events this season: Riyadh, Adelaide, Hong Kong and Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>In a Feb. 1 Instagram post, Mickelson explained he would be missing two events, and that American Ollie Schniederjans would replace him in Riyadh.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38803575\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/phil-2.jpg\" alt=\"Phil Mickelson of HyFlyers GC is interviewed on day one of LIV Golf Chicago at Bolingbrook Golf Club on August 8, 2025 in Bolingbrook, Illinois. \" class=\"wp-image-38803575\"  \/>Phil Mickelson of HyFlyers GC is interviewed on day one of LIV Golf Chicago at Bolingbrook Golf Club on August 8, 2025 in Bolingbrook, Illinois. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>His return comes three weeks ahead of a trip to Augusta, beginning April 9, where he is set to make his 34th appearance.
