The paint almost froze but the party went on.<\/p>\n

Due to below-freezing temperatures on Tipperary Hill<\/a> Tuesday morning, the traditional shamrock painting outside of Coleman\u2019s Authentic Irish Pub had some textural difficulties. <\/p>\n

One painter described the semi-frozen green paint as \u201csludgey.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was 60 [degrees] when I bought the paint,\u201d said Dennis Coleman, third-generation owner of Coleman\u2019s Authentic Irish Pub.<\/p>\n

He bought the green paint yesterday, and said it \u201cstayed in the car all night.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shivering on the frozen sidewalk and peering through the pub windows, people watched as painters shaped a shamrock on the pavement with plastic brooms. <\/p>\n

Even with the frigid difficulties, the tradition drew a crowd, some even traveling to Syracuse specifically for the celebration.<\/p>\n

Paul and Debra Sweeney have a tradition of traveling up from Pennsylvania. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe live on the Pennsylvania-Maryland border in Greencastle,\u201d Paul Sweeney said. \u201cWe\u2019ve been coming and journeying up here for 19 years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before the paint could completely freeze over on the sidewalk, Debra dipped her hand into the shamrock to stamp green handprints on Paul\u2019s shirt. <\/p>\n

After the shamrock was officially completed, crowds escaped the cold to continue celebrating in the pub, tracking green footprints through the snow and onto the sidewalk.<\/p>\n

\u201cI honestly think it was the best shamrock I\u2019ve seen in the past few years, despite the conditions,\u201d Coleman said. \u201cI think they did a really good job, even with bad paint.\u201d<\/p>\n
