A North Texas couple says they are trying to move forward after two incidents damaged their Lewisville restaurant within two weeks.<\/p>\n
Blain Bastow, co-owner of Quickie Crabs on East Round Grove Road, said he and his wife have faced a crash and a burglary in quick succession but remain focused on keeping the business open.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe past couple of weeks have been pretty rough. We had one lady kind of drive through the front of the restaurant,\u201d Bastow said.<\/p>\n
Surveillance video captured the moment a driver crashed through the wall on March 4.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat was pretty shocking. I was sitting right there in the dining room, my wife was behind the counter, and we had a couple of customers in there,\u201d Bastow said.<\/p>\n
Bastow said the crash appeared to be an accident, and no injuries were reported. The restaurant closed for several days.<\/p>\n
After reopening, the business was targeted again early Monday.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had a break-in. So, after hours, at about 1:30 a.m., two guys pried the door open and broke in,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Surveillance cameras showed two masked men behind the counter breaking into cash registers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey didn\u2019t get much, but they did some damage to the door, the back door and pretty much ransacked everything,\u201d Bastow said.<\/p>\n
Lewisville police said keys and debit cards belonging to the business were also taken from a back office.<\/p>\n
Despite the setbacks, customers have continued to show support.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe love this place,\u201d said customer Christopher Henderson. \u201cIt\u2019s bad luck, you know, like a turn of events back-to-back, it’s bad. But I know that they\u2019ll have a lot of support.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bastow said the business has installed an alarm system to improve security.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe installed an alarm system yesterday,\u201d he said. \u201cWe just never thought to install one because we just knew we were never going to keep anything on site, but now, for security or safety reasons, we\u2019re going to put one on site and keep it armed.\u201d<\/p>\n
