Taylor Anne Huston loved to run.<\/p>\n
After the 7-year-old girl from Cary passed away in 2022 from a rare brain cancer, a form of glioma, her family committed to raising money for pediatric cancer research.\u00a0 Fittingly, they decided to coordinate an annual 7k fundraiser run.<\/p>\n
This year, the event will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 28 at the WakeMed Soccer Complex in Cary.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor Taylor\u2019s type of cancer, they say that 92% of research funding comes from foundations such as ours to provide funding for that research. So that\u2019s why we\u2019re doing it,\u201d said Rachel Huston, Taylor\u2019s mother and the founder of the Taylor Anne Foundation.<\/p>\n
Money raised from the event will specifically go towards pediatric cancer research. Huston says the family talks with top doctors around the world to see what they\u2019re researching, so that they can contribute to treatments and cures.<\/p>\n
\u201cTaylor was the most vibrant kid. She had a heart of gold and truly just purely loved everybody. She would do anything for anyone,\u201d Huston said. \u201cShe had that sensitivity about her that she could just read a room and know who needed a hug, or who needed encouragement,\u00a0 who needed a friend to sit with at lunch, that was Taylor.\u201d<\/p>\n
