The first trailer for Marvel\u2019s Spider-Man: Brand New Day landed today and features a cameo by Samsung\u2019s Galaxy Z Flip foldable, but please don\u2019t be like Peter Parker and put your foldable face down on rusty metal.<\/p>\n

In the opening moments of the long-awaited first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Peter Parker is shown watching a video on his Galaxy Z Flip foldable \u2013 probably a Galaxy Z Flip 7, but it\u2019s hard to tell. While the internet is quick to make jokes about the cost of the device given Peter\u2019s current financial status in the MCU following the events of No Way Home, I\u2019m more so horrified in how he\u2019s using it.<\/p>\n

Peter is shown not only placing his unfolded Flip face-down on a rusty metal beam, but he\u2019s also bearing most of his weight on the poor foldable.<\/p>\n

For a number of reasons \u2013 don\u2019t do this<\/p>\n

Foldable displays are a lot tougher than anyone gives them credit for, but this certainly isn\u2019t how they\u2019re supposed to be used. \u201cThat doesn\u2019t sound responsible.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

Samsung, among other foldable brands, uses a plastic layer on top of ultra-thin glass to protect the display assembly which, being plastic, is more prone to scratches and other damage. There\u2019s a whole list<\/a> of precautions users should take, but putting it face down while unfolded is pretty much just common sense.<\/p>\n

Then again, it\u2019s not like Peter has been shown to be careful with his phones in the past. Spider-Man: Homecoming even makes a point of showing that his phone gets damaged throughout the film<\/a>, following each battle. A foldable really doesn\u2019t make sense for Peter\u2019s \u201cfull-time Spider-Man\u201d lifestyle in the new film.<\/p>\n

Brand New Day hits theaters on July 31.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
