(WRGB) \u2014 Governor Kathy Hochul rallied at MVP Arena in Albany Thursday in support of the 1199 SEIU healthcare union, which represents thousands of healthcare workers across New York State.<\/p>\n<p>The governor highlighted additional Medicaid investments included in her 2027 fiscal year budget proposal, totaling more than $35 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Hochul said the state is attempting to offset federal cuts made through the Trump-backed \u201cBig Beautiful Bill Act,\u201d which included major federal tax cuts and changes to Medicaid.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cbs6albany.com\/news\/local\/nurses-healthcare-workers-rally-for-safe-staffing-more-hospital-funding\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">MORE: Nurses, healthcare workers rally for safe staffing, more hospital funding<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know who does not appreciate what you do day in and day out? The Republicans in Washington led by Donald Trump,\u201d Hochul said. \u201cThey don&#8217;t give a damn about you, or health care or people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 1199 healthcare union declared a \u201cCode Red\u201d earlier this year in response to those federal Medicaid reductions, warning the cuts could lead to additional healthcare facility closures statewide.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans argue the Medicaid changes are intended to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cbs6albany.com\/news\/local\/governor-hochul-calls-for-restoration-of-911-health-program-staff-world-trade-center-new-york-state-police-ice-department-of-health-human-services-police-department-new-york-employees-immigration-and-customs-enforcement-cbs6-wrgb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">MORE: Gov.
