I\u2019m really happy to see Joao playing these kinds of matches, at this kind of level.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alcaraz also predicted Fonseca\u2019s rise is only just beginning and he won\u2019t have to wait long to test that theory himself. On Friday night at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atptour.com\/en\/tournaments\/miami\/403\/overview\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Miami Open presented by Itau<\/a>, the World No. 1 faces the Brazilian for the first time in a matchup that already carries intrigue.<\/p>\n<p>While it will be their first tour-level meeting, the two are far from strangers. They shared the court at the 2023 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atptour.com\/en\/tournaments\/nitto-atp-finals\/605\/overview\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nitto ATP Finals<\/a>, when Fonseca was a sparring partner, and practised together again at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atptour.com\/en\/tournaments\/wimbledon\/540\/overview\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wimbledon<\/a> last year.<\/p>\n<p>At 19, Alcaraz had already claimed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atptour.com\/en\/tournaments\/us-open\/560\/overview\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">US Open<\/a> title, risen to World No. 1 and lifted two ATP Masters 1000 trophies.
