As the Steelers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers continue to do whatever it is they\u2019re doing in 2026, it\u2019s a good day to look back at what they did in 2025.<\/p>\n
On this day \u2014 March 21 \u2014 Rodgers made his secret trip to Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n
Well, it wasn\u2019t a secret. Word got out<\/a> as it was happening. And the end result was that Rodgers spent six hours or so with coach Mike Tomlin and other members of the organization. <\/p>\n It eventually became clear that, at some point that day, Rodgers and Tomlin came up with a plan for Rodgers\u2019s eventual arrival. The likely thinking was that Rodgers would be less of a distraction if he had yet to sign than if he were under contract but wasn\u2019t attending the voluntary portions of the offseason program.<\/p>\n Not everyone got the memo. As the team waited, veteran defensive tackle Cam Heyward said this: \u201cI ain\u2019t doing that darkness retreat. I don\u2019t need any of that crap. Either you want to be a Pittsburgh Steeler or you don\u2019t<\/a>. That\u2019s simple, that\u2019s the pitch. If you want me to recruit, that\u2019s the recruiting pitch. Pittsburgh Steelers \u2014 if you want to be part of it, so be it. If you don\u2019t, no skin off my back.\u201d<\/p>\n This year, with Rodgers recently saying there have been no \u201cprogressive conversations<\/a>\u201d between him and the team, Heyward\u2019s comments become relevant again.<\/p>\n Either you want to be a Pittsburgh Steeler or you don\u2019t.<\/p>\n
