{"id":539642,"date":"2026-03-23T02:20:07","date_gmt":"2026-03-23T02:20:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/539642\/"},"modified":"2026-03-23T02:20:07","modified_gmt":"2026-03-23T02:20:07","slug":"abc-replaces-bachelorette-premiere-with-american-idol","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/539642\/","title":{"rendered":"ABC Replaces Bachelorette Premiere With American Idol"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/american_idol\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer nofollow\">American Idol<\/a> fans dimmed the lights this week a little sooner than usual.<\/p>\n<p>After ABC announced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1429886\/taylor-frankie-paul-on-dakota-mortensen-assault-claim-mormon-wives-pause\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Taylor Frankie Paul<\/a>&#8216;s season of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/the_bachelorette\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer nofollow\">The\u00a0Bachelorette<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1429967\/taylor-frankie-pauls-bachelorette-season-canceled\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer nofollow\">would no longer premiere<\/a> on March 22, the network replaced the dating series with a re-run of the competition show.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/secret_lives_of_mormon_wives\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Secret Lives of Mormon Wives<\/a> star&#8217;s journey to finding the one was ultimately shelved on March 19 after a 2023 video of a physical altercation between her and then-boyfriend <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1429892\/dakota-mortensens-rep-on-taylor-frankie-paul-domestic-assault-allegation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Dakota Mortensen<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2026\/03\/19\/video-of-taylor-frankie-paul-beating-dakota-mortensen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer nofollow\">surfaced<\/a>. Shortly afterwards, a spokesperson for Disney Entertainment, the parent company to ABC and Hulu, shared insight into the company&#8217;s resolution.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In light of the newly released video just surfaced today,&#8221; the spokesperson said in a statement to E! News, &#8220;we have made the decision to not move forward with the new season of The Bachelorette\u00a0at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As for Taylor\u2014who shares a son with Dakota, as well as two other kids with ex Tate Paul\u2014her rep addressed the footage in a statement to E! News, saying that the video was part of \u201ca destructive campaign to harm Taylor&#8221; and categorized the release as \u201ca reprehensible attempt to distract from&#8221; Dakota&#8217;s behavior.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"American Idol fans dimmed the lights this week a little sooner than usual.
