Well, well, well. Sometimes talking shit on the internet finds its way back to the subject. To be fair, this is barely talking shit. And, to be fair the sequel, the response to this gentle shit talking is also not giving drama-wise, but at least the debate is healthy? Boundaries<\/a> just released their new single \u201cSkies Cast Amber Black\u201d<\/a> and fans have taken to the internet with some choice words about it. The band\u2019s vocalist Matt McDougal caught wind of said words, and decided to chime in himself.<\/p>\n

Actually, fans were talking about more than how the new Boundaries single sounds\u2014they also have some bad thoughts on the band\u2019s decision to join their new label, Sumerian Records (which has its own issues thanks to founder Ash Avildsen, whom we here at MetalSucks have also had our own problems with\u2014remember Summer Slaughter 2024<\/a>?). When it comes to \u201cSkies Cast Amber Black\u201d specifically though, it seems as though fans have a problem with the mixing and mastering, which was handled by Drew Fulk (Knocked Loose, Disturbed).<\/p>\n

McDougal hopped on Reddit to share his two cents:<\/p>\n

\u201cReally appreciate ya\/ll for checking this out early, this sub has always been so supportive of us i look forward to seeing how you guys react to our art more than i do any other platform at this point. As far as why sumerian its pretty much the new Sharptone because the guy that ran that label moved to sumerian and we went with him, shopped labels for a bit but real life we\u2019d get responses back akin to \u201cthey don\u2019t make r&b music over low turned guitars or stream well enough not interested\u201d so the landscape for places that will take on what we do artistically is sadly not as wide as one might think.<\/p>\n

\u201cMore and more labels are looking for overnight success TikTok bands they can rob blind and dump after a year which is largely what this song is about coincidentally. So far they\u2019ve been great to us and we are looking forward to making a home here for at least the next little while and using the significant step up in resources to make even cooler stuff.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat all being said we had no clue the mix would be so divisive haha, we spent months on it and really love how it came out and we\u2019re thankful for your honesty regarding how it hits peoples ears for the first time, i\u2019ve been listening to this song in my room since fucking november and this mix really grew on me, maybe it will with everyone else as well? Who friggin knows. i can\u2019t wait to be on the road playing it for you guys. We have so much more music locked and loaded.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
