alerts as news breaks<\/a>]<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 lofITx body-paragraph\">The shooting happened in the area of N St. Clair Street and E Third Street at 9:28 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 lofITx body-paragraph\">TRENDING STORIES:<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 lofITx body-paragraph\">Afzal said two officers stopped a person on a bicycle in the area of N St. Clair Street and E Second Street. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 lofITx body-paragraph\">The suspect took off on foot, and officers chased them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 lofITx body-paragraph\">They caught up to the suspect at N St. Clair Street and E Third Street.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 lofITx body-paragraph\">Afzal said a \u201cstruggle\u201d happened, and one officer discharged their firearm. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 lofITx body-paragraph\">Officers rendered aid to the suspect until they were transported to the hospital. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 lofITx body-paragraph\">The suspect was pronounced dead at the Miami Valley Hospital. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 lofITx body-paragraph\">Their identity wasn\u2019t immediately available.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 lofITx body-paragraph\">\u201cAt the scene where the shooting took place, we have located a handgun that was not ours,\u201d Afzal said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 lofITx body-paragraph\">No officers were injured in this incident. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 lofITx body-paragraph\">The Montgomery County Sheriff\u2019s Office is investigating this shooting. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 lofITx body-paragraph\">After that investigation is complete, the Dayton Police Department will conduct an internal investigation. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 lofITx body-paragraph\">\u201cThis is what we know right now,\u201d Afzal said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 lofITx body-paragraph\">News Center 7 crews on scene said at least a dozen police cruisers are blocking the area. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 lofITx body-paragraph\">Additional details weren\u2019t
