In 2026, Marcus Rashford\u2019s role at Barcelona<\/a> has become more definitive. He is purely a back-up at the Spanish club, and did not even come off the bench in their 7-2 win over Newcastle<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Despite Barcelona expressing interest in bringing Rashford back<\/a>, they are baulking at the previously agreed price of \u00a326 million. It has even been claimed they are looking to loan him for the 2026\/27 season<\/a> instead.<\/p>\n

Spanish newspaper Marca<\/a> report that Barcelona are considering a move to sign Andreas Schjelderup from Benfica.<\/p>\n

He would be an alternative to Rashford, who would still command big wages even if he took a reduction from his expensive Manchester United contract<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Marca report: \u201cThe situation is now uncertain. His performance has dipped in recent weeks, and signing him is too expensive for a player who will be a substitute.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rashford has not scored for Barcelona since January 31. His La Liga goal tally for the season is stuck on four.<\/p>\n

Barcelona are also considering moves<\/a> for Abde Ezzalzouli from Real Betis and Real Mallorca\u2019s Jan Virgili. They retain rights to both players after they came through the academy<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It is claimed Barcelona would have to rule out a move for Rashford before committing to another player.<\/p>\n
